LaKT (AT)

Biography

LaKT Ensemble is a contemporary music ensemble based in Austria, dedicated to exploring the relationship between sound and movement and to developing new scenic approaches to music. The ensemble stages existing musical repertoire in close collaboration with dancers and choreographers, designs its own concert formats, commissions new works by composers working at the intersection of sound and physicality, and creates original scenic music productions.

Recent projects and productions include Plom(a) (2021–2023), Coalescence (since 2022), and DW3 (2024). LaKT has performed at venues such as Mumuth Ligetisaal, Bruseum, Theater am Lend and Orpheum in Graz, OFF-Theater in Vienna, Stadtsaal in Ried im Innkreis (Upper Austria), and Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica in Barcelona, where the ensemble made its international debut in September 2022. The project Scenes was developed in cooperation with Mixtur Festival Barcelona and presented as part of its programme.

Beyond co-creative research processes and the questioning of traditional roles in musical performance, LaKT functions as a platform for exchange between composers, choreographers, and artists from diverse disciplines. Its aim is to enrich the musical and choreographic landscape in Austria and internationally by fostering interdisciplinary encounters and opening spaces for experimentation and collaboration.
