Impressions

The aim of the festival, which has been organized at the Mozarteum Salzburg since 2014, is to promote international collaboration between composition students and young contemporary music ensembles from various European countries. The composers apply in an open call for a commission from one of the invited ensembles to write a new piece for their instrumentation. The ensembles select up to four composers themselves from the applications received and supplement their concert program with several works from their own repertoire. Every autumn, these concerts are then presented over three days in the two venues on Mirabellplatz and the newly created works are rehearsed and premiered. The festival events thus offer an insight into the latest aesthetic developments in the field of contemporary music and its interaction with electronics, video and performance.
